Those pesky, lying, worthless ordinary citizens

On Friday the Examiner reported that informants within the Connecticut state police had contacted gun rights activist and blogger Mike Vanderboegh with an urgent message. "Don't come to Connecticut anytime soon," they said, "There's cops and politicians up here who want you dead."

Once the shock of such an outrageous and unacceptable attitude on the part of law enforcement officials wear off, stop for a moment and think about the history of the collectivist/statist movement.

Is this anything new? Are they doing anything they haven't done before once they are firmly ensconced in power?

The progressive movement and its close allies among totalitarians of all stripes -- Communists, Nazis, Fascists, Socialists, etc. -- has always taken an attitude of marked disdain for ordinary citizens.

Connecticut gunowners face confiscation

Excerpt:
The resistance and civil disobedience exhibited by the vast majority of Connecticut gunowners should serve as a model for the rest of the country. Simply refuse to comply. Each time a state experiences the resistance of its citizens, they are being shown a key lesson in Civics 101 -- it is futile and irrational to pass a law that citizens have no intention of obeying.

Market guru bows out citing public apathy

In a stunning written explanation today that took readers by surprise, Karl Denninger of The Market Ticker announced that he is bowing out, hanging it up, due to a shocking degree of public apathy about the problems that face America.

While Denninger stopped short of saying he was closing The Market Ticker altogether, he made it clear that all of its accompanying operations would cease as of today. And although the Ticker would still be published, it will be greatly scaled back.
Denninger says he will write only when he feels compelled to do so, between fishing trips, jogging, and other offline social activities.

The departure of Denninger signifies a great loss to the Internet and to the country.

'Long, domestic cold war' under way in US

In what one liberty activist described as a "long, domestic cold war," and others have referred to as "the stealth war," the U.S. appears to be embroiled in a dispute of clashing ideological realities. So deep is the divide that besets America that many political observers have noted that historically there has been nothing like it since the Civil War on the 1860s.
