Free speech banned, but only for conservative Christians

Time to wade in on the controversy that should not be a controversy at all on Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson and his remarks on gays. A few key points are being woefully missed in the current brouhaha.

First, the free speech clause of the First Amendment to the Constitution is not intended to protect speech that we like. The exact opposite is true. The First Amendment exists to protect speech we deplore.

Another state to vote to exempt itself from national gun laws

Several of the 50 states have either proposed or voted to exempt themselves from federal regulations on firearms. Most often the move comes in response to new restrictions placed on guns by the federal government.

The tactic is to pass laws that prohibit the federal government from exercising any legal jurisdiction over firearms manufactured and sold only within the state that passes this law.

WH reporter: 'Take this town and shove it'

After 10 years working as a much-coveted Washington, D.C. political reporter, with White House Press Corps credentials, Sam Youngman decided to hang it up and return home to Kentucky, where he is now a political reporter for the Lexington Herald-Leader.

Youngman's disillusionment with the Washington political establishment and the media hounds that cover it is expressed in his parting shot, "Take this town and shove it." The words also happen to be the title of a personal expose of sorts, an article in Politico Magazine, published today, which takes the reader on a whirlwind tour of life "inside the beltway."

But Youngman's tale of sex, booze, and White House briefing room encounters ends with a month-long stay in alcohol and drug rehab and a severe case of disillusionment, all of which led to his departure from the D.C. scene in order to return home to a much more sedate and sane life as a reporter for a medium sized newspaper.

Trends: Americans buying guns as Christmas gifts

In spite of the high profile shootings that have dominated the news in the past year, giving anti-gun opportunists occasion to lecture citizens on the false meme that murderous rampages are somehow our fault simply because we own guns, Americans largely are paying no attention to such agenda-laden screeds.

Citizens in high numbers are buying guns as Christmas gifts.

Obama team doubles down on lie in defense of Obamacare

One of the architects of the new Obamacare law appeared on The Kelly File Monday on Fox News during which he repeated the latest lie being floated by the Obama administration and Democrats on the Hill that the problems with the new law are to be blamed on the insurance companies and not the law itself.

Jonathan Gruber, an economics professor at MIT and one of the architects of the Obamacare law, was interviewed by Megyn Kelly on her show last evening.

Kelly confronted Gruber with the latest poll numbers indicating that a whopping 76 percent of those polled blame Obamacare for big changes in their insurance plans, which will result in much higher premiums and mind-boggling out of pocket deductibles.

Gun control: 'What if we say no?'

When the proponents of gun control did their expected blood dance on the bodies of the victims at Sandy Hook Elementary School, gun rights activists were quick to assert that they had no intention of accepting or obeying any more gun control laws.

Groups of citizens confronted law enforcement in New York State, for example, making it clear in no uncertain terms that any such new laws would be disobeyed.

Around the country gun rights groups and citizens who support the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution asked of law enforcement when told they would have to abide by new restrictions on their rights, "What if we say no?..."
