'Shall not be infringed' used only once in Constitution

Progressives often cite difference of opinion among the Founders of our nation concerning a variety of issues as some sort of "proof" that they are deeply divided on matters related to independence and human liberty.

But actually they weren't.

Among the Founders there was broad agreement on several key principles, among them being that human beings are meant to be individually free and not slaves, liberty is worth dying for, government is meant to be as small as possible and exists only to protect human liberty, and going to war is an acceptable means of securing those liberties.

The only real disagreement among the original patriots revolved around the details. How do we best implement and maintain a society where liberty is valued, propagated, and protected?

Obama's hall of shame

First it was phoning Palestinian Authority leader Abbas as his initial act of office after being elected in 2008 to tell him that "Palestinian goals are our goals." Then, it was sending a bust of Sir Winston Churchill that had been in the Oval Office for decades back to Britain in an act of defiance to our closest ally. Next, he bowed to world leaders when American precedent dictated for over 200 years that no president would ever bow in submission to another world leader.

And that was just for starters.

On and on we could go naming the numerous infractions, gaffes, and outright arrogant displays of disdain on the part of Barack Obama since he took office. The Fast and Furious scandal and the Benghazi massacre perhaps stand out as the very worst of the worst. And we still do not have adequate answers regarding either one.

But underlying all of Obama's shocking disregard for presidential decorum, precedent, and prestige is a horrifying tendency to be duplicitous in practically every move he makes...

The 2A News Roundup--Top 10 for Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013

All guns and politics from the best gun rights and liberty bloggers on the Internet.

Mike Vanderboegh has an important read on armed civil disobedience.

Kurt Hofmann presents a cautionary news story from St. Louis concerning a deadly game played by teenagers. Read it all.

David Codrea informs us of a retired Chicago cop and patriot hero who reminisces about a time when Americans were freer and safer.

Brigid posts excellent reading on faith and firearms. Highly recommended.

CLO highlights the presidential propaganda (meaning LIES) on the coming sequestration.

Days of our Trailers comments on Comcast's ban on gun ads. I think that anyone who uses that service should scream to high heaven about it, even leave. We are going to have to get mean with these purveyors of tyranny.

WRSA reminds us that the national Second Amendment Day of Resistance is coming up on Feb. 23. Details provided.

Tam blogs on the notion of a Constitutional Convention. Personally, I think it's a bad idea. It's bad to admit the plain truth that we can no longer trust the American population. They've been too dumbed down and brainwashed.

Way Up North reports the story of a woman who carries a gun in order to deal with the trauma of being a shooting victim herself.

Standing By notes that Michelle Malkin verbally decimated that mindless fool Joe Salazar, the Colorado legislator who declared women didn't need guns to defend themselves against rapists.

Freedom's last gasp: the gun debate and loss of liberty

Time was in America when an individual citizen was the master of his domain. His person, his family, his property, his home, were under the control of no one but him. It was up to him to keep and maintain them. It was also up to him to protect and defend them.

That time in America was not so long ago. Many citizens who have not even reached the age of 60 still remember that time.

In spite of the fact that in most of mainstream, heartland America represented by rural areas, villages, and small towns and cities, the citizens by and large had guns for both protection and hunting, one never heard about school shootings.

Schools were not even "gun-free zones." Yet nobody was ever shot at school.

Obama admitted he would ban gun ownership for all

During Barack Obama's first term of office, liberals often attempted to debunk the claims of gun rights activists that the president wishes to "get their guns" by pointing to the fact that Obama had not submitted a single proposal that would infringe on the Second Amendment in any way whatsoever.

"Obama is not trying to get your guns," they would always say, most often in response to the skyrocketing firearms sales that began just prior to the 2008 presidential election when it became clear that Obama would most likely win.

All it took, however, was for the right set of circumstances to be set in place, and Obama's true colors rose to the surface -- winning reelection, Democrats keeping control of the Senate, and the Sandy Hook massacre.

The perfect storm occurred...

The 2A News Roundup--Top 10 for Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013

All guns and politics from the best gun rights and liberty bloggers on the Internet.

Roberta X posts a photo of a gun that's still legal even in the state of New York!

Alphecca reports some interesting info on the Washington state proposed gun law that would result in police inspection of homes.

The Twisters blog on the power of words and lament the tendency of political correctness to squelch free speech.

Stand Up America has some very important info on how to defeat Obama's many distraction ploys.

Every Blade of Grass says that infamous gun-grabber Sen. Dianne Feinstein has responded to an email he sent to her objecting to her gun ban proposals.

Oleg Volk, photographer extraordinaire, shows off his latest gun rights masterpiece.

From Nicki: "This week's gun grabbing stupidity--gone full retard."

The Wandering Minstrel has the must-read quote of the day from George Washington.

The Stiletto writes a most interesting reminder concerning the fact that the current gun debate should be of great interest to women in particular, since THEY are most often targets for armed thugs.

The War on Guns issues a timely warning to Republicans that if they kowtow on gun control measures they WILL pay a heavy price at the voting booth. You betcha! They can take it to the bank.

Chicago top cop blames Palin, gun lobby

In the city known more for being the corruption capital of the United States than "the windy city," Chicago's top cop has blamed Sarah Palin and the gun lobby for the city's shockingly high murder rate.

Palin has never lived in Chicago. And long before the former Alaska governor and former Republican vice presidential nominee was thrust onto the national stage in 2008, Chicago's murder rate was even higher than it is today.

Similarly, the gun lobby was not able to prevent Chicago from passing some of the most restrictive gun control laws in the nation, which eventually led to a landmark Supreme Court case that struck down some of the cities gun bans and other restrictions.

The 2A News Roundup--Top 10 for Monday, Feb. 18, 2013

All guns and politics from the best gun rights and liberty bloggers on the Internet.

Mike Vanderboegh shows us that a lot of people just don't seem to get it when it comes to gun and ammo shortages. Americans are buying firearms and bullets like there's no tomorrow for 2 basic reasons--they want to get them while they are still legal, and they want the means to defend themselves against tyrannical government!

Kurt Hofmann calls our attention to a New York politician who has introduced a gun ban bill that would also mandate government confiscation of existing guns...like a good little Commie-Nazi.

David Codrea notes that Chicago's top cop has condemned gun owners for their political activism, using some very strong language to boot. I would expect nothing less in the Mafia-dominated city run by Obama buddy Godfather Rahm "Dead Fish" Emanuel, who, by the way, has expressed presidential aspirations.

WRSA presents Matt Bracken's answer to the question, "So, what's the matter with gun registration?"

Karl Denninger exposes the New York Times for reporting blatant falsehoods on a new all-electric car. And folks, this is not unusual. Pravda does this sort of thing all the time on a variety of issues.

Way Up North has the translation of commonly used terms by the Leftwing, progressive, liberal element. Interesting, to say the least.

Tam comments on the Colorado attempt to pass limits on magazine capacity.

CLO notes that the Left is livid about Gun Owners of America and its director, Larry Pratt--all the more reason to support them. They do not compromise as the NRA has done so often, neither do they give undeserved high grades to politicians who have dubious records on gun rights, as the NRA has consistently done.

Days of our Trailers wants to know who the heck wrote the illegal search bill in Washington State that has gov't nosing around in your home looking for banned guns.

Pamela Geller reports some news you won't believe. CAIR--the American arm of HAMAS--gave an Islamic prayer before the Arizona Senate that curses Christians and Jews! You know what? CAIR needs to be arrested and jailed, and outlawed. They are terrorists. If they had their way, all Christians and Jews would be dead.

McCain to betray conservatives on gun rights

U.S. Sen. John McCain of Arizona, the presidential nominee of the Republican Party in 2008, is set to betray conservatives yet again. This will not be the first time McCain has supported measures that fly in the face of every known conservative principle that has defined the movement from the beginning.

Perhaps his most famous piece of legislation, McCain-Feingold, was a direct attack on the First Amendment and free speech, banning individuals and entities from purchasing ads in the media in the days leading up to an election...

Gun rights battle reveals irreconcilable differences

Increasingly the gun rights battle that is raging currently in America has become so vitriolic and volatile that many citizens are now saying that the battle has revealed divisions in the populace so deep that they amount to "irreconcilable differences" that are bound to end in open conflict and/or a permanent divorce that would split the United States into two or more countries...
