PBS Redacts Major Obama Gaffe Out of Speech to Congress

The taxpayer-funded Public Broadcasting Service redacted a major Obama gaffe out of the transcripts of his speech to Congress Thursday evening of this week. During the speech Obama referred to President Abraham Lincoln as "the founder of the Republican Party." The assertion is false. Lincoln joined the Party in 1856, two years after its first convention in Wisconsin in 1854.
While it is true that such a gaffe did not provide a false premise for the address nor alter its central focus, had this been George W. Bush or Ronald Reagan the media would have jumped into action with its instant 'fact-checks' that would have turned the gaffe into major headlines.
Instead, the media in complete solidarity have remained silent.
But one mainstream outlet, PBS, went further. Not only did the network remain silent concerning the gaffe but proceeded to remove the remark out of the official transcripts of the speech.

FLASH: New York Times Says Palin Crosses the Political Divide

In a stunning column today by New York Times writer Anand Giridharadas, several assertions were made suggesting that perhaps at least a few members of the northeastern intelligentsia may be willing to take a second looks at Sarah Palin. The Times asserts that Palin 'crosses the political divide' and draws her views from a variety of sources that could potentially unite seemingly irreconcilable forces within American politics.
Here is how the article begins:

The Season of Woe

In the history of the Hebrew people, who became known as Jews, a theme arises that would become a means of describing the polarity of their experience and their relationship with God--'woe or weal.'

Weal is a word that denotes a period of great prosperity, happiness, fulfillment, well-being. Woe, of course, is the opposite--a period of poverty, despair, abandonment, and distress.

The ancient Hebrews, according to the Bible, were schooled by God Himself in the simple concept that if they obeyed Him and lived according to the covenant that they themselves had agreed to, then they would be blessed. If, however, they violated that covenant with God, they would suffer the consequences.

Those consequences were dire.

A Critique of the GOP Debate Sept. 7, 2011

Last night's 'debate' among the 8 challengers for the GOP Presidential nomination was yet another lesson in the ever-present and growing futility of allowing the mainstream media to control these forums. Brian Williams of NBC-MSNBC and his colleagues on the panel were simply embarrassing and their performance unbecoming for serious news organizations.
The nature of the questions, most of which lacked substance, were often laughable. And that brings up the question as to the value of continuing to broadcast these forums, which are misnamed 'debates.' Their only value is in allowing viewers to see how candidates come across on TV.
And that is a highly misleading endeavor.
That being said, as promised this writer will provide a critique after each of the GOP debates and rate the candidates accordingly using the rating system I developed in 2007.

Naturally, the Mayor who is affectionately known here on The Liberty Sphere as 'the Bastard' is calling for more gun control...the bastard. Can't you feel the love? Bloomberg is a bastard!

Patriots Duty posts the must-read of the day entitled, 'The Moral Compass IS the Tea Party.'

A Sensible, Conservative Economic Plan

For seemingly the umpteenth time in the last 3 years, Barack Obama will present an economic plan before Congress on Thursday evening. Advisers to Obama indicate that he will call for $300 billion more in spending, which he terms 'creating jobs.' He also plans unspecified targeted tax cuts.
But the details so far have been few. We do know, however, that the country does not have $300 billion to spend, particularly since Obama demanded and got an increase in the debt ceiling, which sent the national debt soaring once again.
How many times over the past 3 years have Americans heard Obama promise 'shovel ready' jobs if only he could get his proposals passed by Congress?
The thing is, he got ALL of his proposals passed by a Democrat-controlled Congress that was all too willing to give Obama anything he asked for. Yet there are still no jobs.

I Am Dropping Ann Coulter

This blog has been published since September of 2006--nearly 5 years and going strong. I surpassed the 1 million page views mark a month or so ago, with little fanfare, mainly because I don't really consider a million in 5 years to be all that great.

But, as blogs go these days, I suppose I should count my blessings. Most do not fare so well.

And I do humbly appreciate all of you who read this blog faithfully.

About a year or so into the publication of The Liberty Sphere I added Ann Coulter to the site as one of the featured pundits you will find in the left column. At the time I did that on the strength of her books, which are wonderful, and her willingness to speak her mind without mincing her words when it comes to liberals.

But since 2008 I have had growing concerns about Coulter. In 2008 she supported Mitt Romney for the GOP nomination for President, in spite of his RomneyCare program--socialized medicine--and in spite of his less-than-enthusiastic 'support' for gun rights.

And this year she has incessantly talked about the need for New Jersey Governor Chris Christie to jump in the race. Christie is yet another northeastern establishment Republican although he is very good on economic and budgetary issues.

As if that were not enough, Coulter began to bash Sarah Palin. She has not let up on that, and even tonight on O'Reilly she continued the onslaught.

I won't have it. Yes, people are entitled to support who they wish, but I don't have to put up with it on my blog. Anyone who bashes Palin is simply not welcome here. You may prefer Bachmann, or Cain, or Paul, etc, but bashing is over the top and will not be tolerated.

Palin has had enough bashing from the mindless, imbecilic Left and their couriers in the mainstream media. The last thing we need is for so-called 'conservatives' to join in.

Thus, the link to Ann Coulter on this site will be removed. Good riddance!

There Has To Be a Song

Several people have asked me about the song I had running through my head in the hours prior to the 9/11 attacks. I wrote about that today at the Examiner.

Over at the ministry site, I tell you about the song and post some of the lyrics.

I hope it is helpful.

You can access here at Martin Christian Ministries.

Thanks for reading, and God bless.

Europe's 'Wall Street' Faces Collapse

As the U.S. government continues to hide the real facts about the economy by cooking the books, European banks are indicative of the real story.

Today the head of Germany's Deutsche Bank warned of the imminent collapse of many European banks unless certain steps are taken that are reminiscent of the massive taxpayer bailout of Wall Street in 2008-2009.

According to a report in The Telegraph, Josef Ackermann of Deutsche Bank warned of the pending collapse:

"Numerous European banks would not survive having to revalue sovereign debt held on the banking book at market levels."
Mr Ackermann said market conditions were as febrile as the height of the banking crisis. "We should resign ourselves to the fact that the 'new normality' is characterised by volatility and uncertainty," he said. "All this reminds one of the autumn of 2008."
As many of us have been warning for the past 2 years, get set. This is going to get ugly. And yes, it will be much worse than 2008.

The 2A Roundup--Top Ten for Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011

All guns and politics from the best gun rights and liberty bloggers on the Internet.

Denninger issues the following grave pronouncement concerning the economy--"It's over." And he has the proof. Better get set.

Vanderboegh has the latest explosive news concerning the Project Gunwalker scandal.

David Codrea also has news that the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association has charged that the Obama Administration retaliated against the whistleblowers who blew the Gunwalker scandal wide open.

Kurt Hofmann posts an excellent article explaining that it is NOT a 'conspiracy theory' to state unequivocally that Gunwalker was a scheme to justify more gun control laws.

WRSA comments on the declaration of war against Republicans and the Tea Party by labor unions.

Tam says that an item she shows in photos is like a prom dress for your pistol. Take a look.

Way Up North posts a follow-up to a report about a recent trip to the firing range.

Breda reports from the 'blogshoot on the lake.'

Newbius says that wifey went to the firing range, and here he provides a report plus photos.

Greg W. Howard proposes a most interesting method of making the mainstream media pay for their numerous sins of omission in reporting vital news, as well as their obvious leftwing bias. Read it all. It's called "Operation SLAM.'

9/11--a personal memoir

(Note--due to the personal nature of this article, it will be written in the first person).
When I awoke at 5:30 AM on September 11, 2001, I was immediately struck by a most unusual feeling that I had not had in years. A certain sadness seemed to overwhelm me from deep within, but I could not tell where such a feeling was coming from nor why it would be so pervasive.
I was also struck by another unusual occurrence. An old hymn that I had not sung or seen in years came flooding into my consciousness, embedded in my mind like a CD player set on perpetual replay. I had always loved the hymn and found it extremely comforting during some of the most difficult periods of my life.
But why now? Everything seemed to be going well. I was working as a chaplain at a facility that paid me well due to my extensive training. I had started a business with a friend, and it was was also going extremely well. There was no reason for my overwhelming sadness or for the hymn of comfort that flooded my mind.
I went to work to do the early morning shift.
During the last leg of my rounds I came upon a good friend, a Baptist minister, who was having surgery that day. It was roughly 8:55 AM ET. The first thing that came out of his mouth when I walked through the door was, "Look at that!" He pointed to the television on the wall.
The television camera was focused on the World Trade Center. One of the towers had a large, gaping hole in the side with large plumes of black smoke billowing out into the sky.
I said, "What on earth happened?" He replied that they did not know as of yet, but apparently a small plane had crashed into the tower. I remember saying that a hole like that seemed to indicate more than a small plane.
We continued to watch the scene for several minutes, making small talk. And then, sometime after 9 AM, I saw the faint outline of a large jetliner flying dangerously low at a very high rate of speed. I said, "Look at that. What is that plane doing?"

Why Gunwalker scandal is infinitely worse than Iran-Contra

In response to the continually unfolding 'Project Gunwalker' scandal engulfing the Obama Administration, some progressives have tipped their hand as to how they plan to frame the 'defense' of what is perhaps the most corrupt Administration in U.S. history. They compare the scandal to 'Iran-Contra' during the waning years of the Reagan Administration, as if by doing so the main players, including Obama, will escape accountability for their actions.
But the Gunwalker scandal is infinitely worse than Iran-Contra. Why?
The motivation for Iran-Contra was admirable although the mechanism for its implementation was flawed and skirted the boundaries of the law. The motivation for the Gunwalker scandal, on the other hand, is subversive and evil--to deliberately place U.S. guns in the hands of Mexican drug cartels in order to claim that since most of the guns used by the criminals in Mexico came from the U.S., then the only remedy is draconian, sweeping new firearms control legislation and gun bans.

Vanderboegh--a new strategy needed in Gunwalker probe

One of the two reporters who originally broke the story concerning the ATF-DOJ gun smuggling scandal back in December of 2010 says that a new strategy is needed in the Gunwalker probe. 'Project Gunwalker,' or 'Operation Fast and Furious,' are the two most commonly used terms by the media to denote the scandal.
Mike Vanderboegh of Sipsy Street Irregulars, whose thorough and persistent work in investigating and reporting the claims of ATF whistleblowers led to national news reports on the scandal at CBS News, Fox News, and other mainstream outlets, states that the entire probe is in danger of passing from the scene, buried permanently under the current massive effort to cover up the actions of high level Administration officials who implemented an illegal operation resulting in guns deliberately being placed into the hands of Mexican drug cartels.
Some of those guns were recovered at the scene of the murder of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry.
According to Vanderboegh, the scope of Darrell Issa's investigation in the U.S. House of Representatives is narrow in scope due to the restrictions of his committee's purview. Further, Vanderboegh asserts that the present state of the massive cover-up has 'Clintonistas' written all over it...
