Second Amendment News Roundup for 4/24/09

Focusing on guns, politics, and news of interest, here is today's Second Amendment News Roundup:

Nicki cactus-jacks a 'gentlelady from Florida who is a hypocritical sow.' Take a look!

Days of our Trailers comments on Obama's new national youth service act, and he disagrees with my assessment that the bill forbids opposition. I will grant that the intention is to prevent participating organizations from opposing this law or organizing protests, but it just added hundreds of new organizations that are forbidden from exercising their rights. Maybe just a matter of semantics, but I still see this as an assault on our liberties.

Conservative Libertarian Outpost posts a statement from the NRA stating that Americans don't need the NRA to tell them Obama is a danger to their liberties...the citizens are telling that to the NRA!

CNS News is reporting that the Defense department is reversing its ammo directive due to public outcry.

From Mike Vanderboegh: 'Leave Us the Hell Alone or We Shall Not Leave You Alone This Side of Hell.'

Mindful Musings alerts us to a new knife company the owner of which is a big supporter of the 2nd Amendment.

Standing By has a good read entitled, 'Profiling the Left in America.'

Way Up North updates us on Alaska's actions concerning the 10th Amendment and state sovereignty.

Western Rifle Shooters Association explains how socialists attempt to rescue socialism from failure. A most interesting read!

Texas Fred says that San Fran Nan is lying again and calls her out on her claim she 'knew nothing' about waterboarding after 9/11.

Walls of the City updates us on the story concerning Napolitano's claim that the 9/11 terrorists 'came through Canada.'

The Rustmeister has important news on Netanyahu's assessment of Israeli relations, or the lack thereof, under Obama.

Insight on Freedom reports that Obama is set to sign the ominous 'Law of the Sea' treaty, which has been rejected by every President, both Republican and Democrat, since Ronald Reagan.

Mike McCarville posts a certificate that's suitable for framing. I want one, and I think you will too!

Armed Citizen provides a MUST-read entitled, 'Apologists.'

Alphecca has some good news from North Carolina concerning guns.

The Wandering Minstrel shares the quote of the day on guns from the greatest of all--President Ronald Wilson Reagan.

Traction Control points to essential reading concerning what Obama is pressuring the mainstream media to say about his first 100 days in office.

Sebastian informs us of some rather interesting pro-gun editorials of late. Take a look.

From Ride Fast and Shoot Straight: 'How Empires Fail.'

Codrea's Gun Rights Examiner describes a clear danger to gun owners everywhere in the present political climate.

Hofmann's St. Louis Gun Rights Examiner alerts us to the fact that Oath Keepers would fit that idiot Napolitano's definition of 'right wing extremists.'

And now, for your Friday reading pleasure, An Ol' Broad's Ramblings presents the finest political cartoons on the Internet. These fall under the heading, 'Head Weasel.'

Bill Quietly Becomes Law That Forbids Opposition! (UPDATE)

Note: Scroll down for an important update!

Have you ever heard of legislation in the United States of America that forbids any opposition to it?

Well, we now have it, and it is the law of the land, courtesy of the thugs in the White House and Congress.

Read all about it in my column at Columbia Conservative Examiner.

Thank-you.

Update notice! I went to the Thomas site and downloaded the entire bill from top to bottom so that I could examine it myself. Indeed, the amendment that prevented opposition was included in the final document as a provision to prevent employees in these agencies from engaging in partisan political activity while on the job. I stand corrected.

THIS POLL IS PATENTLY FALSE!

In a blatant attempt to snowball the American public into believing Obama has overwhelming public support for the direction he is taking the country, the AP issued a poll today that is patently FALSE--particularly in the manner in which it is portrayed.

Using Obama's personal approval rating of 64% as a supposed indication that Americans overwhelmingly support his policies, the AP poll failed to show his skyrocketing negative numbers.

In addition, they merely stated that 'a majority' of Americans agree with the direction the country is headed without providing the exact numbers and percentages.

A majority by how much? How many? What is the percentage?

One had to read down to almost the end of the article to discover the exact figures of this supposed 'majority.' And guess what? It's not a majority at all, but only 48 PERCENT!

Not even half of those polled agree with the direction Obama is taking the country, yet the AP reported it as a 'majority.'

Here is the article.

Want to see how Obama is REALLY doing with some accurate polling numbers? Try this!

Obama's negatives stand at 44%. But the real clincher is when you compare those who 'strongly approve' with those who 'strongly disapprove.' In that equation only 6 percentage points separate Obama's positive numbers from his negatives.

Hardly a resounding endorsement from the electorate!

Western Rifle Shooters Association announces a mega-handgun training party at Front Sight coming up soon. Click the link for details.

Tam points to a handy Terrorist/Not a Terrorist chart, just in case you're having trouble telling them apart...

Armed Citizen provides good reading today from none other than Chuck Norris.

From John Jacob H: 'Geese Are Evil and Need to Die!'

Blogstitution has a great read entitled, 'Why Not Release ALL the Memos?'

Free in Idaho has the quote of the day. Take a look!

By the way, what did YOU do for 'Earth Day' yesterday? Not being one to pass up a celebration, I lit up a few cigars, let the pickup truck run idle for over an hour, topped off my gas tank at the filling station, and turned the air conditioning up as high as it would go. I started to deliberately break one of those newfangled light bulbs that are supposedly enviro-friendly, but the gub'mint told me it was poison if you break one. So I took it outside and broke it. Hope the mercury from one of those safe, environment-friendly light bulbs didn't kill anybody.

Napolitano Ignites Yet Another Firestorm

As if it were not enough to issue a report that refers to most mainstream Americans as 'potential homegrown terrorists,' DHS Director Janet 'Veterans-Are-Terrorists' Napolitano has done it again.

This time her mouth has caused somewhat of an 'international incident.' Read all about it in my column today at Columbia Conservative Examiner.

Writing for the Examiner has been a life-saver of sorts for me in light of recent health issues and the accompanying expense. I am paid according to the number of people who read the column.

Thus, it is vitally important that you click on the link and read. This is most helpful, and I deeply appreciate all you have done thus far in this area. Please continue.

And the only domestic terrorist ever added to the FBI's 'Most Wanted Terrorists' list is a member of the vast Leftwing extremist network.

Read all about it in my column today at Columbia Conservative Examiner.

Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership provides interesting reading today that's worth attention--'Jews Still Get It Wrong.'

Open Carry has a good discussion going on their forum concerning the ruling of the 9th Circuit court panel yesterday on incorporating 2A.

Tam posts a timely reminder that although the decision by the 9th Circuit is limited, it IS a major step forward in the right direction. I agree.

Ride Fast and Shoot Straight has a somewhat different take on the ruling. Particularly note the part about guns being allowed 'only in our homes.'

Alphecca provides more insightful commentary on the issue.

Hofmann's St. Louis Gun Rights Examiner maintains that, in light of yesterday's ruling, the incorporation of the 2nd Amendment nationally is in sight. I hope he's right!

Nicki has a MUST-read entitled, 'Free Speech is Now Unhealthy.' Do yourself a favor and read it.

Way Up North posts some shocking figures on the plummeting crime rate in Anchorage.

2A Musing has some ammo for sale!

21 Guns Salute writes about some mail he received from a writer at WaPo and the response he offered to the writer's article. Good reading.

Days of our Trailers points to the template the media uses in their bias against guns.

Conservative Libertarian Outpost reports that a group of scientists in Britain are claiming that 'fat people' are destroying the earth. I kid you not.

Notoriously Conservative has the complete story of the beauty queen who got cactus-jacked for speaking her mind about the definition of marriage. The underlying message? Exercise your right to free speech, and the speech police will punish you severely, even in America. There has to be a special rotisserie in the hottest part of hell reserved just for these worthless swine.

Speaking of worthless swine, Bloviating Zeppelin shows us THIS 'collection of dolts.' Take a look.

A Cautious Approach to 2A Incorporation Ruling

While the ruling of the 9th Circuit Court is a major victory for gun rights activists, the ruling is limited. Much more needs to happen before the 2A is incorporated nationally.

And this is my topic today at Columbia Conservative Examiner.

Remember I still need you to click on the link, read the articles, and pass them along. This is very important.

And thanks a million for your help!

GUN ALERT! 9th Circuit Incorporates 2A!

The Second Amendment has been incorporated by a panel of the 9th Circuit Court, which is seen as a major victory for gun rights.

Eugene Volokh of The Volokh Conspiracy has the story.

But, as Volokh goes further to warn, this may not be the resounding victory gun rights advocates had hoped for. Gun shows lost out as Volokh cites here.

And then there is the broader issue as to whether or not The Second Amendment is incorporated against state and local governments, in spite of the panel's decision.

Volokh goes further to cite the actual wording of a concurring opinion on the panel, which further creates at least some doubt as to the consequences of the Panel's ruling.

Second Amendment News Roundup for 4/20/09

Nicki appropriately cactus-jacks Obami-Commie for slobbering all over Hugo Chavez.

2a Musing opines on what would be the smartest firearm collection. Interesting read!

RECESSION!

The current economic downturn has impacted different areas of the country in different ways.

But today's article at Columbia Conservative Examiner takes a look at how one Governor is holding steadfast against a federal government that wishes to mandate how funds are spent in his state.

It's a classic battle that pits a Governor against not only the Feds but his state legislature as well!

Take a look, and pass it along. Thank-you for your support!

Barefaced Lies About Current Unemployment Rate

The mainstream media is reporting that the latest unemployment figures have reached historic proportions, particularly in California, where the jobless rate stands at 11%, supposedly 'the highest ever.'

That statement is blatantly FALSE.

Read my column at Columbia Conservative Examiner to get the real story.

Here's a clue. During the Great Depression of the 1930s, the unemployment rate went to 25% nationwide. So how can a jobless rate of 11% be deemed 'the highest ever?'

More mainstream media, partisan BULLssshhttt, that's how.
