Senator Introduces Bill to Ban Fairness Doctrine

U.S. Senator Jim DeMint, R-SC, is set to introduce a bill in the Senate next week that would prevent the FCC from censoring conservative talk radio. The bill would be an amendment to the D.C. Voting Rights legislation before Congress.

And this is the subject of my column today at Columbia Conservative Examiner.

In that article you will find the reasons why this bill is necessary, along with quotations from Democrats concerning the issue.

I invite you to read it and then pass along the info about the column to your friends, family, and acquaintances. Thank-you.

Chris Matthews, Obama Team Attack CNBC Anchor

Following a day in which CNBC news anchor Rick Santelli captured the outrage of millions of Americans toward Obama and the unfairness of the bailout bill, MSNBC anchor Chris Matthews and the Obama administration went on the attack.

It isn't unusual to hear this sort of cheap shot partisanship from Chris Matthews. We have thoroughly examined this scumbag's 'work' on MSNBC and have found him to be nothing less than a bad joke.

What IS unusual, however, is for the administration of a sitting President to constantly go on the attack with regard to critical commentary in the media.

Obama has built up a reputation in his short career on the national scene by going after those who criticize him, such as radio talk show personalities, local television station news reporters, and now, even an anchor for a network that has been the most pro-Obama media outlet on the air.

We have commented before several times about Obama's apparent shockingly thin skin.

It takes a thick skin to be a politician. Obama is sorely lacking in that quality, and hence, he seems to mount a personal vendetta against any and all who would dare hold up his policies to intense scrutiny.

And that is exceedingly dangerous.

MUSLIM HEAD CHOPPERS STRIKE AGAIN

Within the last week we have witnessed extremist Islam rear its ugly head around the world as the head-choppers ratcheted up their activity.

First, it was in the United States as a Muslim TV station owner beheaded his wife in what is being described in Islam as an 'honor killing.' The woman was seeking a divorce from her abusive husband, according to co-workers.

Then, a journalist covering a rally in Pakistan was shot and beheaded by Islamic extremists just after the Pakistani government agreed to allow the Taliban in the Swat Valley of the country to restore Sharia Law in the area.

However, this is only the tip of the iceberg. As you will see by reading this thorough pictorial report provided by Atlas , the devaluing of women, including severe physical and emotional abuse, as well as 'honor killing,' is fairly widespread among Muslim populations around the world.

The pictures and stories of the women highlighted by Atlas are only a very small sampling. And, in our politically correct world of totally overlooking the carnage and barbarism of Islam, the movers and shakers in government and the mainstream media are engaging in implicit approval of this kind of intolerable behavior.

U.S. Code Proves Obama is Breaking the Law

Since the story first broke that Barack Obama has moved to take control of the U.S. Census, placing it under the control of the White House, most commentators have viewed the move from the angle of what it does in terms of gerrymandering, or, configuring Congressional districts to favor Democrats.

My emphasis, however, has been on the law. And Obama is clearly breaking it.

This is the subject of my latest column at Columbia Conservative Examiner.

The U.S. Code, which details the nation's federal laws, clearly shows that Obama is breaking the law by moving the Census from the Commerce Department to the White House.

Take a look, and tell a friend. Thanks!

How 'Bout a Salary Cap for Actors, Sports Figures?

Oscar-award winning Actor Sidney Poitier stated on Thursday that Hollywood CEOs should have their salaries capped just like banking executives who accept bailout money from the federal government.

In fact, he stated that ALL CEOs should have their salaries capped at $500,000 per year whether they accept bailout money or not.

You see, my friends, the vermin Socialists crawl out from under the woodwork when somebody like Obama gets into the White House.

I have a question for Mr. Poitier. How 'bout a salary cap for actors and sports figures too? Huh?

I mean, the money you people make is 'obscene,' to borrow a term from your fellow liberals who describe the money CEOs make.

Answer me this, Mr. Poitier. Is it acceptable for a baseball player to sign a contract worth over 100 million bucks, such as is common today? Is it 'morally and ethically' proper for an actor to make 10 million bucks for one movie?

I doubt Hollywood types like Mr. Poitier would accept any such caps that they readily prescribe for others. But if for some odd reason they are open to such an idea, I have a suggestion. Let's cap actors' salaries at $100,000 per year no matter how many pictures they make. Let's set sports figures' salaries at a maximum of $200,000 per year.

With all that money we are saving just from actors and sports figures alone we could probably bump up garbage collectors' wages to $60,000 per year.

How's that for 'fairness' Mr. Poitier?

ALERT! Revolt Brewing! TV Anchor Calls for Tea Party

Via Matt Drudge, a TV anchor on CNBC has called for a taxpayer revolt against the Obama plan, particularly the concept of allowing people who default on their mortgages to get a bailout.

Citing the unfairness of the plan, particularly when millions of other struggling families pinch pennies to pay their mortgage payments, the anchor called for 'a new tea party.'

As we have already reported, there is a growing groundswell of support across the country for holding a series of regional 'tea parties' in various cities across the country.

It looks like Americans' love affair with Obama is beginning to come to an end.

'Lie Down with Dogs, Get Up with Fleas'

I have a guest blogger today who does a great job over at Kharma Futures. Here, Rev. Kharma examines the nature of the corrupt Chicago Political Machine and its tendency to infect everyone who touches it.

Lie Down with Dogs, Get Up with Fleas
Posted by revkharma on February 19, 2009

Let’s take a quick walk around the cesspool known as Chicago Style Politics. We don’t even need to go to the roots of the Daley machine. To get a feel of how things can become totally corrupted, we can look at just a couple of offices in the Illinois congressional delegation. Remember Dan Rostenkowski. a loud, pushy congressman from Illinois who was eventually indicted and convicted for fraud in relation to the House Post Office corruption scam. After he went to jail (incidentally keeping his deluxe House of Representatives pension) his seat was filled by a place holder then was filled by none other than Rod Blagojevich. Rod went back to the Land of Lincoln, where he tried to sell the US senate seat vacated by the Great and Powerful Obama. He eventually appointed Roland Burris. Now Burris is being investigated for perjury, as it appears he was less than candid when testifying before Blago’s impeachment committee. He somehow forgot that he had several conversations with the Gov’s brother about rounding up some cash for ‘campaign funds’. Seems his memory was refreshed when it looks as if the FBI has tapes of the conversations.

Loop back again.. Blagojevic was succeeded by Rahm Emanuel. He of the ‘ take advantage of a crisis’ fame. A fierce fighter, he is reputed to be a vicious bully witha long memory and longer reach for revenge.

Blago has long standing ties to Tony Rezko, A felon convicted on corruption charges. Rezko bundled millions of dollars of contributions for Blagojevich, and many of his associates later found jobs in state government. Rezko also has long standing ties to The Great and Powerful Obama. There has still never been any in depth look at the connection, but one look at the real estate deal that resulted to Obama owning the lot adjacent to Rezko will show just how easily corruption can be swept under the rug.

So, let’s look here, Rostenkowski, Burris, Blagojevich, Emanuel, Obama. All these dogs seem to lie in the same pen, and my guess is that all of them share the same fleas. I just want to know why no one seems willing to do something about the fleas jumping all about the Great and Powerful Obama.

He has surrounded himself for years with many corrupt people. One look at the fiasco that is his cabinet will clue anyone in. How many people either stepped down or withdrew nominations because of corrupt practices? Even his Treasury Secretary admitted to non payment of his taxes, but the Great O managed to slip him in anyway. Just how long will his dishonesty and outright corruption go unremarked in the media?

Keep the Faith

La Shawn Barber reports that the court found in favor of an Arizona rancher who was sued because he turned in a group of illegal aliens who crossed the border on his land. But he got dinged by the court on something else, unfortunately.

According to the AP, Obamanomics has already caused the biggest jump in inflation in recent history.

Texas Fred says that not only is Obama sending thousands of extra troops into Afghanistan, but his commanders in the country say we will be there for at least another 5 years. This begs the question of the Obama people--why is this ok when it wasn't ok in Iraq?!

The Rustmeister observes that apparently there is a new definition for 'a carload of guns.'

The BoBo Files has wonderful news. It looks like the grassroots citizen protest against Obama's pork spending package is growing! There is a mammoth 'Chicago Tea Party' being planned for July. Be sure to click on his link.

You MUST see this at Insight on Freedom. 'America Circling the Drain.'

Maddened Fowl wonders if perhaps an ammo ban of sorts has already been implement.

Gun Pundit provides an interesting news story from Wisconsin where someone got into trouble for open carry while planting trees on his own property.

Picking Up the Pieces of Failed Democrats

A reader of my column at Columbia Conservative Examiner asked a question after I asserted that when Democrats create economic disaster, conservatives are here to pick up the pieces.

He challenged me to 'name one Republican in the last 50 years that "picked up the pieces" of economic disaster.'

And that is the subject my latest column today at Columbia Conservative Examiner. It's entitled, 'Picking Up the Pieces of the Nation's Economic Disasters.'

I invite you to read and tell a friend. Thanks.

Burris Plays the Chicago Game Quite Well

He lied to Congress. He lied to the public in news conferences and interviews. And now Roland Burris, Obama's Senate replacement, has admitted he didn't tell the truth about his fundraising activity for disgraced Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich.

During hearings before Congress, Burris stated that he had no knowledge about any attempt by the former Governor to sell Obama's Senate seat to the highest bidder, or give favors in exchange for funds or fundraising.

But this week Burris admitted that he was asked by Blagojevich or someone close to him to do some fundraising for the Governor, and Burris says he had agreed to do so.

Then, suddenly, Burris finds himself appointed by Blago to the vacant Senate seat.

It is vital to remember at this point that Obama, Blagojevich, Burris, and Rahm Emanuel are all schooled in the infamous dirty politics of the Chicago political machine. So far Burris has played the Chicago game quite well in that despite his slippery manner of describing his dealings with Blago, he still sits in Obama's former Senate seat without any serious attempt to oust him.

The problem with Burris' words, however, is that he keeps changing his story on several key issues. Is it so difficult to remember one's contacts and conversations with the Governor on a matter of extreme importance such as fundraising and an empty Senate seat?

It could be that the problem is that Burris remembers all too well. And this, perhaps, causes him to 'trip over his words.'

FBI Special Agent: Muslims Plan to Take Over U.S.

Before you laugh at such an assertion that Muslims plan to take over the U.S., consider that they have almost succeeded in doing so in Europe. In Britain there are Muslim pockets where the citizens are allowed to practice Sharia Law instead of English law.

And this is the ultimate goal of the Islamic extremists.

Their goal to take over is not an end unto itself. Their goal ultimately is to usher in Sharia Law where the ancient laws of Islam formulate the law of the land.

Remember, under these laws 'infidels' are beheaded, family members are murdered in 'honor killings,' and women are treated worse than field rats.

Recently a former FBI Special Agent spoke at a meeting of law enforcement and Homeland Security personnel to inform them of his investigations into the subtle, incremental manner in which Muslims are gradually taking over the U.S.

And he doesn't merely make assertions. He backs up his assertions with observable facts.

Read the entire report here.

Second Amendment News Roundup for 2/18/09

Focusing on guns, politics, and news of interest, here is today's Second Amendment News Roundup:

Rev. Kharma has the MUST-read of the day on embryonic stem cell research, in light of the fact that this week these cells caused tumors to develop on a child. It seems our corrupt federal government withheld from the public that this is a huge risk of embryonic stem cells. I have always opposed the use of these cells...adult stem cells seem to hold much more promise, no matter what lying, corrupt 'experts' say.

Days of our Trailers has a must-read on Barack Obama and the Fairness Doctrine.

Walls of the City reports the ominous news that the Commercial Appeal proceeded to update their list of concealed carry licensees rather than take the list down in response to the protests of the citizens. What a bunch of apes.

The Rustmeister observes that those little things we call 'commas' are of utmost importance to the Second Amendment...by merely changing their position or removing them, one can change the entire meaning!

Notoriously Conservative has posted some awesome military photos from Iraq and other places. Take a look!

Live from the Upper Texas Gulf Coast reports that our illustrious Attorney-General Eric Holder has opened up his beak and chirped on something that is really not the government's business.

Bloviating Zeppelin hits one out of the ballpark today with 'It's An Attack on All Fronts!'

Michelle Malkin provides a report on this afternoon's citizen protest of Obama's pork spending stimulus bill in Mesa, Arizona. I hope this trend spreads to the rest of the country--a National New Boston Tea Party!

Gateway Pundit has this little item that I absolutely love. San Fran Nan (Pelosi) went to the Vatican for a meeting with the Pope, and promptly got an earful, a smack-down in fact, from Pope Benedict concerning her radical views on abortion! It couldn't have happened to a better person.

RINO Support for Nationalization of Banks

RINOS, such as Senators John McCain and Lindsey Graham, have stated that they may support a plan being considered to nationalize the nation's troubled banks.

And this is the subject of my column today at Columbia Conservative Examiner.

Apparently a plan is being considered in Congress that is modeled after 'the Swedish Plan,' which Barack Obama is said to support.

Socialism is on the march, my friends, but not without protest. You will find info about that too in my new column.

I encourage you to read it and spread the word. And thanks!

Obama the Law-Breaker

It has already been established that Barack Obama has broken the law, and it is a serious one. By merely issuing an order to place the U.S. Census under the control of the White House, he broke a law established by Congress itself to place the Census under the Department of Commerce.

It must be nice to know that your Party controls the government. That way you have the comfort of being assured that no matter what laws you break you won't hear a peep of protest from the slavish minions in Congress.

The thing that is curious, however, is that the mainstream media has been totally silent about this issue. As Newsbusters reports, there hasn't been a peep out of them either...not that surprising.

But this is a serious issue. The Founders believed that the Census should be a totally non-partisan endeavor. The Constitution calls for it. Congress passed a law early-on that insured its impartiality by taking it out of the control of the President.

But Obama apparently believes that he can just up and break the law whenever it suits his needs, and in this case it suits his needs because by controlling the Census he can insure Democrats remain in power for generations to come.

You see, Congressional districts are redrawn based upon the Census. And if the Census is in partisan hands, the numbers can be tweaked to favor one's Party, leading to gerrymandering--configuring districts in such a manner that Democrats will be insured victory.

A lot is at stake on how this plays out. The matter will most definitely wind up in the Courts unless Obama backs off this stunningly ill-conceived plan to break the law. And if Congress were under the control of different hands, you can rest assured he would be facing impeachment hearings, and for good reason.

Next Pork Spending Protest--Mesa, Arizona

The grassroots, citizen protest against the Obama pork spending program called a 'stimulus package' is growing. What started on Monday in Seattle moved to Denver on Tuesday, and now, today, it's on to Mesa, Arizona.

Michelle Malkin provides a heads-up on today's protest.

By the way, a reader has suggested a national 'New Boston Tea Party' to protest the massive Obama pork-spending fest. I think it's a splendid idea. How about you?

Tuesday, February 17, 2009

Special Report: Today's Citizen Protest in Denver

In Denver today, the site of Obama's signing of the pork stimulus bill, a group of citizens staged a protest over the massive spending program, complete with a roasted pig provided by Michelle Malkin.

The protesters object to the billions in the bill for liberal pet projects, the sheer size of the bill, the cost to the taxpayers, and the fact that our children and grandchildren will be left to pick up the tab.

Michelle Malkin has a special report on today's protest, complete with pictures, along with more pictures from yesterday's protest in Seattle.

Second Amendment News Roundup for 2/17/09

Focusing on guns, politics, and news of interest, here is today's Second Amendment News Roundup:

Via Matt Drudge, the big news today is that apparently the stock market is not impressed with the massive Obama 'stimulus' bill as stocks took a steep nosedive.

Tam is apparently thoroughly 'stimulated' by this news, but not in a positive way, of course. Did I just formulate a 'triple-entendre?'

Gateway Pundit reports on the Denver citizen protest of the trillion dollar pork package Obama will sign today...complete with a roasted pig provided by Michelle Malkin.

Texas Fred has an interesting take on Senator Gillibrand's statement that she and her husband 'keep two guns under the bed.'

Rev. Kharma also weighs in on the Gillibrand story.

The Rustmeister does some more fisking of the Commercial Appeal--the newspaper that published the names of concealed carry licensees.

Insight on Freedom has an important update on the move by government to silence conservatives on the radio.

Conservative Libertarian Outpost is going section by section through the stimulus bill and says that it is a socialist manifesto from top to bottom, locking in socialism for generations to come.

Codrea's Gun Rights Examiner column focuses on the NRA Director candidate questionnaire.

Mike Vanderboegh will be taking a short break from blogging in order to finish his novel, Absolved. I'm looking forward to the finished product. It is destined to be a classic.

Needless Duplication of Government Services

Waste, inefficiency, and needless duplication of government services is the focus of my latest column at Columbia Conservative Examiner.

A perfect example of this is the University of South Carolina's elaborate regional campus system, even in a relatively small state such as ours.

The Governor has a proposal that will help fix some of that waste, but he is being met with heavy opposition. Take a look at the article on how one fiscally-responsible governor is going about eliminating duplication of services.

And please, spread the word. Thanks.

New Boston Tea Party Coming to a City Near You

As citizens across the country are beginning to realize that Barack Obama and the Democrats have just taken them for fools with this massive trillion-dollar stimulus scam, they are taking to the streets to protest.

According to Michelle Malkin, thousands showed up in Seattle on Monday to protest the taxpayer-funded pork-fest, and another such rally is planned today for Denver.

It's the Boston Tea Party all over again!

Michelle herself is even going to personally deliver a roasted pig for the event today, in 'honor' of the purveyors of pork, such as Obama, Reid, Pelosi, and Little Chucky Schumer.

'True Grit'

For those like me who adhere to the values and principles embodied by the great John Wayne and the characters he portrayed, here is a masterpiece of exceptional writing that will take you back to an era in America when we were proud to be Americans--strong, self-sufficient, no-nonsense and outspoken advocates for individual liberty.

Brigid, the author of the piece who describes herself as a 'Celtic lass on a small homestead on the Plains, is an extraordinary writer who creates vivid scenes in our minds with the power of words.

In the post linked above, she took me back to a by-gone era of my boyhood and youth, as I idolized John Wayne and aspired to be like him.

I never quite reached my goal, but I still adhere to the values of those movies that depicted a time in America when men were real men, where guns were not evil but positive tools, where it was admirable to stand for something against all odds, and where fighting for the right, for truth, justice, and freedom was not an option but an unquestioned responsibility.

Be sure to read Brigid's post in its entirety, and then tell her how much you appreciate not only her gift as a wordsmith but her stand for liberty.

Days of our Trailers comments on the news story that hit over the weekend that Roland Burris, Blago's choice to replace Obama in the Senate, has apparently perjured himself. This is big news and could get out of hand quickly...I understand the GOP in Illinois is calling for Burris to step down.

Walls of the City has an absolute must-read. He thoroughly fisks the editors at Commercial Appeal over their rationalizations (excuses) for publishing the names of concealed-carry licensees. And then take a look at this one entitled, 'Another Attack on Privacy.' Do yourself a favor and read both...every word.

Pax Parabellum reports that Barack Obama wants the bust of the great Sir Winston Churchill removed from the Oval Office. What a complete imbecile!

Free in Idaho poses a crucial challenge the Lefty type readers. This is essential reading!

Alphecca blogs on yet another gun control law that can't be enforced.

Sipsy Street Irregulars asserts that the failure to save Eastern Europe will result in a quick meltdown that will spread like wildfire.

Guns and Roses

Buffoonery is the subject of my latest column at Columbia Conservative Examiner, which is entitled, 'Incremental Backdoor Citizen Disarmament.'

We could just as well titled it 'Guns and Roses' based upon what several law enforcement agencies in South Carolina did over the Valentine's Day weekend.

These clowns actually held their version of a gun buy-back program, except they gave away a rose in exchange for a gun...a beautiful red rose to give to your honey for V-Day.

And get this, they didn't even offer an amnesty provision for those who would turn in an illegal firearm!

This one, I'm quite positive, has the criminals laughing so hard they probably needed oxygen.

The thing that is NOT funny, however, is the government's attempt to get the citizens' guns through these kinds of programs.

Read the column at the link, and please spread the word. Thank-you.

UPDATE! U.S. Economy Deliberately Attacked

Last week I reported a story that provided factual evidence that our economy was deliberately attacked by malevolent forces in September of 2008, resulting in the present financial crisis.

There is now an important, late-breaking update to the story.

The first piece of interest news is that some of the 'big time' bloggers with national appeal are picking up on the story. Perhaps if enough of them begin running stories on this matter, the story will be picked up somewhere by someone in a mainstream media outlet, either at the local level or on Fox News.

Second, according to this report at Gateway Pundit, when the news broke that the U.S. was in the midst of a financial meltdown in its banking system, Barack Obama did not think it was necessary to interrupt his campaign and travel to Washington like John McCain. In fact, Obama appeared as if he were not the least bit surprised or dismayed by the news. He simply continued
with his campaign without missing a beat.

Rush Limbaugh has reported on this story. So did C-Span. Yet not a single mainstream outlet picked up on it...yet.

But you can rest assured top-level investigators are on the case.

High Profile Pastor Joins Obama Team

A high profile Baptist minister from the upstate of South Carolina has been invited by Barack Obama to join a Presidential panel on faith-based programs.

Dr. Frank Page, Pastor of Taylors First Baptist Church in Taylors, SC, has agreed to serve on the panel that will meet with the President in Washington on a quarterly basis and hold meetings by telephone conference between the quarterly meetings.

As a social and spiritual conservative, Page stated that at first he had deep misgivings about serving and wondered why he would even be asked. But then he stated it occurred to him that he might be able to make a difference in an environment where matters such as abortion, or forcing churches to hire non-Christians if they accept government money for social programs, seem to be the prevailing philosophy.

Page stated that he insisted in his interviews with the White House that if at any time he felt his voice was not being heard or that his point of view was being minimized, he would have no hesitation about resigning immediately.

We can only hope that Dr. Page can, in fact, make a difference in that wasteland of a lion's den. But my hunch is that over time he will find that his views not only will be met with a deaf ear but outright hostility.

I hope I am wrong.

10 Key Conservative Principles

What does it mean to be a political conservative in today's America? What does the term 'conservative' mean from a modern political point of view?

Confusion seems to be rampant concerning the meaning of the term, such as the tendency by some to refer to John McCain, Lindsey Graham, or Arlen Specter as 'conservative.'

Thus, I offer 10 Key Conservative Principles as the subject of my Sunday column at Columbia Conservative Examiner.

Take a look, tell a friend, spread the word, and comment if you wish on the site...even if you disagree with some of my assertions.

Thanks!

A Silver Lining in Part of the Stimulus Package

At the last minute, just prior to the Senate's approval of the Obama-Democrat stimulus bill, Senator Chris Dodd, D-CT, inserted a provision that places limits on executive bonuses for banks that receive bailout money from the government.

The Obama administration immediately took to the airwaves to state that it did not support that particular measure due to the fact that it may lead to a serious depletion of 'brain power' as bank executives bail out and migrate to other corporations that pay much better and where the bonus structure is not limited.

In actuality, however, the real issue is one of control. Obama and company fear that many banks simply will not ask for any government bailout money at all now that Senator Dodd has made sure they receive no bonuses. Their salaries have already been limited in the bill.

Without banks signing onto the Obama-Democrat program, the government will not be able to control either salaries or bonuses.

And this is precisely the silver lining in that part of the stimulus package.

With banks seeing no real incentive for requesting bailout funds, that is, unless they are in such dire straights that they are forced to do so, the financial sector of the country may actually be forced to see its own way out of the mess they have created for themselves.

The other alternative is bankruptcy.

And that's not necessarily bad. If execs make poor decisions and give bonuses to people who did not earn it by putting their banks on solid financial ground, then they deserve to go under.

Further, those banks that refuse to go under and determine to make it without government help may be doing themselves, their customers, and the country a big favor.

Personally, I hope hundreds of financial institutions will have the means and the guts to say, 'No thank-you, Mr. President.'

Williams: 'The Hell With Our Constitution'

One of the foremost economists in the country, Dr. Walter E. Williams of George Mason University, has an important observation to make concerning the Obama-Democrat economic package Congress just approved--'the hell with our Constitution.'

In his latest riveting syndicated column, Williams demonstrates that this is precisely the attitude of most Americans, most of the members of Congress and the Courts, and certainly the current President.

In fact, Williams shows that this total disrespect for the law of the land, the U.S. Constitution, actually began in the late 1930s and then over time grew into this travesty of the law in which we find ourselves today under the present Administration and Congress.

America today depicts something much, much worse than a mere 'disrespect' for the Constitution. It shows an outright contempt.

Read the article for Dr. Williams' timely words concerning what's happening to our country.
